ABOUT OUR PROJECT

The developmental imperatives that youth now faces are related to exploring and consolidating an identity. Civic identity, the purpose and sense of community derived from it may take on added meaning in the narratives of younger generations. Increasingly political issues transcend the borders of states and many new forms of youth activism reflect this transnational reality.

Civic participation is important because it teaches how to live and work together, appreciating different opinions, values and beliefs in a tolerant manner. Through civic participation, youth become aware of difficulties and social issues in our society and get to know the opportunities for a positive change and community-building. Only through active engagement people can get involved in their communities to promote change. Fighting social exclusion and poverty affecting large numbers of young people in Europe is one of the EU Youth Strategy's core priorities.

By exploring the set including Youth, Arts, Participation and Education, we can say that “art” brings images and texts from popular culture into stories from the field. The rationale behind this is that we must develop a critical awareness of the ways arts are used by youth, and by adults, to make “youth” in everyday life.
Only through active engagement do people get involved in their communities to make a change for a better future.
